ATCON EXECUTIVES PAY A COURTESY VISIT TO THE ACTING GENERAL MANAGER, LASIMRA
The Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to the acting General Manager – LASIMRA, Engr. Bisoye Coker Odusote recently (25th May 2021) to discuss on the way forward at ensuring effective and efficient collaboration that will benefit both parties.
ATCON is a Premier Association formed by technocrats in the telecoms industry to facilitate as well as accelerate the growth and development of the Nigerian Telecommunication Industry through effective collaboration with all tier of government and privately – owned telecoms and ICT companies.
While welcoming the Executive members to LASIMRA, the Acting General Manager Engr. Bisoye Coker Odusote reiterated the need for synergy between ATCON & the Agency to achieve the common goals. In her word, “we need to improve our working relationship to achieve a common goal and make everyone responsible and add value to governance, giving prompt adherence to the rules and regulations guiding utility infrastructure business in the State”.
Engr. Odusote reiterated the need for Utility Providers to imbibe the culture of honesty and transparency in the cause of transacting business with LASIMRA, noting that, the building of illegal masts, operating without permits, cutting of roads without proper restoring, indebtedness, etc. will only amount to disagreement among the stakeholders. In her words, “I understand the importance of technology in the modern world, hence, the reason why LASIMRA operates an open door policy for easy access to information as to when due and encourage erring operators to conform with the rules in order to avert unnecessary penalty.
In his response, the ATCON President, Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani, promised to call erring operators to order and ensure that LASIMRA got effective and efficient cooperation its deserved to stimulates enabling business environment for utility providers.
Also speaking at the occasion, Mr. Abayomi Adebanjo (ATCON coordinator of infrastructure), call for a stringent penalty not only on erring telecom operators but contractors who accidentally cut cables should be made to pay and that, LASIMRA should endeavor to give telecom operators access to prompt information.
In her closing remark, Engr. Bisoye Coker Odusote stated that the Agency is aware of the importance of having prompt access to vital information in the business environment hence, LASIMRA is set to launch its S – Auto Platform – an automobile commercial platform designed for the authorization and approval of permits. This will facilitate access to easy online registration and information by Stakeholders.
It will also interest you to know that, the Agency has established three Zonal Satellite Offices in Epe, Ikorodu, and Badagry for effective regulation and monitoring of utility infrastructure along these corridors.
